The glass is secured by tiny 14 Karat gold spacers and strung on antique steel-cut beads--almost impossible to find today--which were culled from the purses and fancy garments of women in the 18th century.The amazing effect of these steel cuts-personally selected by Kirkwood-is that they offer incomparable delicacy and make the necklace appear to float on the wearer's neck.
